Puppy Policy

All our litters are carefully planned in an effort to perpetuate, preserve and hopefully improve this wonderful breed. All parents have an OFA rating of good or excellent for their hips. All parents have their eyes checked annually by an ophthalmologist in an effort to prevent any hereditary eye problems.

Every effort is made to match the puppies with their new families. The puppies are continually evaluated for both temperament and conformation soundness. Final decisions are made at approximately 8 weeks when the entire litter is graded by the Breeder and at least 2 other Aussie Breeders in the area. The puppies also have their eyes checked at that time for any eye defects that would prevent them from being used for breeding purposes. All final decisions will be made by the breeder.

By the time the puppies leave for their new homes they will have had at least one shot. The puppies are raised in our home and are continually socialized from birth. Prospective Buyers in the area are encouraged to visit often as schedules allow. A $150 nonrefundable deposit is required to reserve a puppy and will be applied to the purchase price. Puppies are not made to order and it's recommended that Buyers keep an open mind as to color and sex until they have had a chance to meet the litter and final evaluations have been completed. If there isn't a match in one litter we can hold your deposit for a future litter.

Aussies are not for everyone. They are extremely intelligent, active dogs. New owners must have a fenced yard and be committed to attending, at a minimum, a puppy class with their new puppy. Beautifully trained, well mannered adults are not born that way. The love, attention and training that new owners give their puppies are critical for the dog to mature into a healthy, well socialized adult.

Companion dogs are sold for with limited registration. This requires that the puppy be spayed or neutered and not used for breeding. It does not prevent the puppy from competing in any performance events or in ASCA altered conformation events.

At any time, if a home is deemed unsuitable by the Breeder, the initial deposit will be returned. All other deposits are non-refundable or at the sole discretion of the Breeder. Please feel free to contact Iron Rose Aussies for additional information.
